Orange County

Orange County, NC is mostly widely known as the home of the “Tarheels” of the University of North Carolina. The University of North Carolina, located in Chapel Hill, is the oldest state supported school of higher education in the country. Located in the southeastern portion of the county, Chapel Hill and its neighbor, Carrboro, are bustling college towns. The seat of the Orange County government is located in historic Hillsborough in the center of the county. The remainder of Orange County consists mainly of small rural, unincorporated communities.  In the present day, the surrounding zip code has taken on the names of these unincorporated communities.  In rural Orange County, you will see fields of corn, soybeans, and tobacco along with cows, bison, chickens, sheep and goats. Beautiful lakes and rivers lend to aesthetic beauty of this area.
